Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972  is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of 性 in education programs or activities operated by recipients of federal financial assistance (such as UNH). Discrimination on the basis of 性, including any form of gender-based different treatment; 性ual harassment, which includes acts that do not involve conduct of a 性ual nature such as discriminatory 性 stereotyping and 性ual violence, which includes 性ual assault, unwanted 性ual contact, 不正当的性行为, 家庭暴力, 虐待的关系, 约会暴力, and stalking (including cyber-stalking).  Title IX's prohibitions apply to all students, 教师, and staff. 

Title IX regulations require UNH to appoint a Title IX Coordinator to ensure UNH's compliance with Title IX, to publish a notice of nondiscrimination and to adopt and publish grievance procedures that lead to the prompt and equitable resolution of Title IX complaints.  的y also require UNH to publish the name and contact information of the designated Title IX Coordinator.

Title IX Coordinator Roles and 责任

的 Title IX Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the university is compliant with Title IX.  This includes responding to complaints alleging gender discrimination of any form, engaging in proactive activities including providing training related to Title IX issues and overseeing Title IX investigations.  More specifically, duties include: 

  • Being available to meet with students, staff and 教师 who believe 性ual violence has occurred.
  • Ensuring that complaints are handled through consistent practices and standards in a prompt and equitable fashion.
  • Overseeing an independent investigation or other response to claims of 性ual harassment and 性ual violence.
  • Providing assistance to, 和他一起工作, the institution’s law enforcement employees on appropriate responses to reports of 性ual violence.
  • Reviewing complaints to determine whether they present a potential issue under Title IX and/or to identify and address any patterns or systemic issues. 
  • Putting forth programs to prevent 性ual violence matters
  • Maintaining confidential records of all Title IX complaints and University responses.

Grievance Procedures

Any student can experience 性ual violence: from elementary to professional school students; male and female students; straight, 同性恋, 女同性恋, bi性ual and transgender students; part-time and full-time students; students with and without disabilities; and students of different races and 国家的起源s.
